I'm 27M and recently met a 35F at a friend's party. We were talking, and she basically asked me, that I should ask her out, so I did. The date ended up being one of the best first dates I've ever had. We talked for almost four hours about life, goals, and everything in between without any distractions.
The problem is that I've always had a rule not to date older women (1–2 years is fine, but 8 years feels like a lot to me). I also think we have slightly different life goals, and I get the feeling she might not be looking for anything serious. I'm the type of person who gets attached easily, so I'm worried about getting hurt if we're not on the same page.
She wants a second date. Should I give it a chance, or stick to my rule? Has anyone been in a successful relationship with someone 8 years older? also what are the dynamics of those relationships?
